True Love

What is true love? We all define love differently, and every definition is as valid as the next, as long as it is healthy. Perhaps one thing we can all agree on is this: all forms of love, be it true love or real love, must be 100 % healthy.

Consider the role of cheerleaders in sports. They are the biggest supporters and fans of their team, rooting for them with unmatched enthusiasm. Without their genuine support, they wouldn’t be true cheerleaders. This analogy perfectly fits the dynamics of a healthy relationship:

You and your partner should be each other’s ultimate cheerleaders, the biggest supporters there has ever been.

If either of you feels that you cannot be that, then true love means stepping aside. It means giving the opportunity for someone else to become that person’s biggest cheerleader. True love is not just about loving and supporting each other wholeheartedly; it is also about being selfless enough to step back when you can no longer be the best possible partner and supporter.
